Vibrant Colors for a Late Summer Wedding

Meet Jaesika, she is all about color and she has the personality to go with it.

For her first of September wedding, all Jaesika requested was lots and lots of bright colors.

and so we delivered bright centerpieces...

and table cloths...

vivid bouquets to go with the colorful bridesmaid dresses...

and paper lanterns...

...and to top it off, a rainbow cheesecake.  Yes folks, this really is a cheesecake made by my dear friend Kiersten Haderlie.  She did an amazing job of creating this delicious and unique specialty cake just for Jaesika and Erik.

Exotic Orchids

I love how these corsages turned out for a wedding in Centerville last week.

Garden in a Pot

This year I had the greatest success I've ever had with planting flowering pots.
We have so much more to do to make our house and yard just the way we want it, but these pots were an accessible way to draw attention away from everything that is not perfect about our surroundings.  I see this pot every time I look out the back door.

The pots above and below greet us when we come home.  The secret to such abundant pots, I'm now convinced, is time release granular fertilizer.  Osmocote makes one that you can apply at the beginning of the summer and you're good to go for the whole season.

I promise there is a pot under there somewhere.

This little gem is an African Daisy. Its my favorite type of flower in the front yard pots.
I love the fuchsia to orange gradation.  Too bad they don't do well as cut flowers.

Petit Bouquets for Bridesmaids

Flowers from a recent wedding...

These hydrangeas are, shall we say, enhanced a bit thanks to Design Master
spray paint.  I'm usually not a fan of this treatment, but I think
in this case the results were pleasing and believable.

Loved this combination.

This too...I was skeptical about everything coming together with so
many different colors, but we pulled it off quite nicely I think.
More pictures to follow.

Blue Hydrangeas

I love these blue hydrangeas that were left over from a recent wedding.
En masse, they make a perfectly simple but dramatic flower arrangement.
You'll be seeing a lot of various varieties of these beauties in the near future--
Fall is their time to shine.

Bouquet of the Week

I thought it would be a nice idea to post pictures of my favorite
bouquet for the week.  Here it is for this week--a seasonal bouquet of
green hydrangea, millet, and purple lace elderberry foliage hand
tied with a lavender satin ribbon--Yummy!

One of the best things about this bouquet is that almost all of it will dry
beautifully--perfect for the bride who would like to keep her flowers
as a memento from the most important day of her life.
